The Boy and the Girl (El Nino y La Nina)

Remember that what the sky eats
The sky will heave and shit
Where’s your umbrella, sunflower?
Before the rainbow comes the shower
Lest you go bathe and dance
Shiver under chances for cold trance
Why are you afraid of the rain, sun worshipper?
Scared your cover will get wet from drops that wander?
There are no thunderbolts and lightning
Only your hair and clothes and breeding.
And you run, run for a roof, a shelter
Then wait until the crying stops and Helios takes over.
Remember that what the sky does, it repeats
It’s hungry again for aquatic treats.
Where’s your parasol, shy human?
We know that Sol loves dramatic exits and a more pressing entrance
Lest you go bathe and dance
Bask in the speed of light and photosynthetic trance
Why are you afraid of the sun, daywalker?
Scared of the warmth of its ultraviolet whisper?
Your melanin isn’t there for nothing & a dose ain’t a cigarette
And you’re pale for someone who lives with coconuts and beaches
Because white is beautiful, tropical ingrate?
And dark skin is a curse in the Pearl of the Orient?
Get over it, you bastards born of Las Filipinas
A two-faced climate is minimum standard.

Go. Moan. Scream. Tell me if you like it. Make some noise.
